Los genocidios y matanzas a población indígena en América es en Gustavo Larsen una preocupación central que atraviesa toda su obra. Al conmemorarse el Bicentenario de la Revolución de Mayo en 2010, el artista asumió el desafío de representar matanzas históricas, específicamente las ocurridas en los siglos XIX y XX en nuestro país. El inicio fue la selección de 200 nombres de Caciques que grabó en pequeñas estampas. Con ellas compuso otras obras, cosidas a imágenes de rondas de siluetas humanas tomadas de las manos, poniendo en tensión la idea de multiejemplaridad del grabado y expandiendo sus fronteras al incorporar el textil.The genocides and massacres of the indigenous population in America is a central concern in Gustavo Larsen that goes through all his work. As the Bicentenary of the May Revolution was commemorated in 2010, the artist took on the challenge of representing historical massacres, specifically those that occurred in the 19th and 20th centuries in our country. The start was the selection of 200 names of Caciques that he recorded in small prints. With them he composed other works, sewn to images of rounds of human silhouettes taken from his hands, putting into tension the idea of multi-exemplarity of the printmaking and expanding its borders by incorporating textiles.

El presente trabajo aborda la obra del grabador argentino Gustavo Larsen cuya temática gira en torno a la pregunta de cómo tratar desde el arte las diferentes matanzas a pueblos originarios ocurridas en nuestro país. El artista pone en juego relaciones entre memoria e historia en la configuración visual y objetual de su obra, presentando una suerte de genealogía que une muertes indígenas con la desaparición de personas por causa del terrorismo de estado de la última dictadura cívico-militar de 1976.This work addresses the work of the Argentine printmaker Gustavo Larsen whose theme revolves around the question of how to treat from art the different massacres to native peoples that occurred in our country. The artist puts into play the relationship between memory and history in the visual and objectual configuration of his work, presenting a kind of genealogy that unites indigenous deaths with the disappearance of people due to the state terrorism of the last civil-military dictatorship of 1976.
Voces ancestrales y resistencias artísticas contemporáneas Latinoamericanas en la obra de Gustavo Larsen
Gustavo Larsen realiza, bajo el formato de Quipu incaico, instalaciones, exposiciones o acciones en diferentes espacios y contextos situados tanto públicos como privados, abiertos o cerrados, por el valor simbólico y metafórico que para él contienen. Fusionando códigos de diferentes disciplinas artísticas tradicionales en un lenguaje contemporáneo integrador, emplea referencias ancestrales y presentes relacionadas con genocidios indígenas latinoamericanos, generando obras que integra al Proyecto JUNTARSE 30.000, iniciado en el año 2010.Gustavo Larsen performs, under the format of Quipu Incaico, installations, exhibitions or actions in different spaces and contexts located both public and private, open or closed, for the symbolic and metaphorical value they contain for him. Merging codes of different traditional artistic disciplines into a contemporary inclusive language, it uses ancestral and present references related to indigenous Latin American genocides, generating works that integrate the JUNTARSE Project 30,000, begun in 2010.

Y apelamos a ello no con un sentido reivindicatorio, sino por necesidad de ubicar el mundo del citado grabador. La Plata no es una ciudad de grabadores ni hasta el momento se haya podido precisar la existencia de una escuela de arte que la identifique. Por qué entonces este “capricho” de resaltar el entorno.To speak of localism is, today, a kind of negative stance for a correct analysis. La muestra de Gustavo Larsen “Apuntes temporales” obliga al espectador-participante a tomar una posición frente a la obra presentada. No se puede permanecer indiferente cuando se propone un recorrido que parte de la memoria-vestigio de sucesivas lecturas sobre lecturas para llegar a una hipótesis final en la que reconocemos los elementos que sirvieron de punto de partida a un orden como formas participantes de un caos final.Gustavo Larsen's exhibition “Apuntes temporales” forces the spectator-participant to take a stand in front of the presented work. En la obra artística de Larsen hay un dualismo constante, un fluctuar entre antípodas: materia-espíritu; tierra-cielo; variedad-unidad; un permanente juego de signos cargados de misterio, en apariencia imposibles de decodificar, y una búsqueda que va de los orígenes del hombre y del mundo conocido hasta el macrocosmos, y quizá, ¿por qué no? ya esté ahondando las inescrutables profundidades de un inframundo, poblado de magia y fantasía. Porque en última instancia si nos detenemos en el análisis de su producción, podemos afirmar que así como Xul Solar creaba e inventaba universos y elementos fantásticos, en Larsen todo surge como consecuencia de una "investigación mágico-fantástica", que pareciera ser extraída de la memoria de nuestros ancestros.In Larsen's artistic work there is a constant dualism, a fluctuating between antipodes: matter-spirit; earth-sky; variety-unity; a permanent game of signs loaded with mystery, apparently impossible to decode, and a search that goes from the origins of man and the world known to the macrocosm, and perhaps, why not?
