Coronavirus en Argentina. Marzo.

El trabajo de la foto, que acabo de realizar, manifiesta visual y táctilmente los datos que el Ministerio de Salud ha aportado día a día acerca de los casos de coronavirus en Argentina. Los mismos pueden consultarse en el portal www.argentina.gob.ar. Elegí un color diferente para las categorías allí definidas: casos importados (amarillo claro), contactos estrechos (amarillo oscuro), casos en estudio (anaranjado), transmisión comunitaria (rojo), fallecidos (blanco) y recuperados (verde). Como base estructural se colocaron 31 hilos amarillos claros colgantes, representando así cada día del mes, correspondiendo el del extremo izquierdo al día primero y el del extremo derecho al 31. Desde los mismos se fueron colocando hilos subsidiarios de los otros colores, cuando se dieran cifras en los informes. Por eso, por ejemplo, aparecen tientos blancos solamente aquellos días en los que hubo fallecidos. Las cifras se determinaron a través de nudos en dos niveles. El inferior corresponde a las unidades y el superior a las decenas. No se contempló calcular un tercer nivel para las centenas pues se pensó que no se presentarían más de 99 casos en un día, hecho que sin embargo se produjo y se solucionó con un nudo más arriba del nivel decimal. Si se observan los nudos se podrá observar que son de diferentes tamaños y grados de complejidad. Los más sencillos representan al número 1 si está en el nivel inferior, al diez en el siguiente y al cien en el de más arriba. Cuando al hacer el nudo se van aumentando la cantidad de vueltas, podremos representar los números restantes, llegando hasta el 9. El cero aparece cuando no hay nudo. En primer lugar por lo que implica. Hubiese sido preferible volcar otros datos más felices, como nacimientos por ejemplo. Pero la triste ocasión presentó un desafío, una oportunidad de ir trasladando diariamente lo que se iba informando a un objeto que sería después el resultado de actuar casi mecánicamente bajo un plan, un sistema prestablecido, haciendo un traslado de un sistema de comunicación a otro centrado en un interés artístico. Se presentaron aspectos operativos a resolver, desde cómo lograr que un nudo complejo quede a la altura que se desea, ni más arriba ni más abajo, o como calcular el largo de cada soga para que no falte material al realizar los nudos. Asimismo, hay cuestiones que, al estar utilizando hilos realizados industrialmente, imposibilita incluir procedimientos y recursos que los métodos netamente artesanales posibilitan. Como ejemplo puede darse la opción de retorcer el hilado hacia la derecha o hacia la izquierda; la orientación ya está determinada en estos hilos. Tampoco fue siempre fácil interpretar los datos aportados. Hubo cambios de categorización, o falta de continuidad de un día a otro. El primer informe es del día 5 y registra el caso detectado el 3. El 6 se registra el segundo. El 7 no hay informe y el 8 da tres nuevos casos importados, sumando 12 en total. Comparando hay 7 casos no definidos que se pudieron determinar con información periodística. Asimismo los dias 29 y 30 sólo se dan los totales, sin discriminar. Solamente en el día 22 se agrega un hilo rojo, ya que es la única vez que se define una posible transmisión comunitaria. Los casos en estudio o en investigación epidemiológica, indicados en color anaranjado, no se modifican hasta ahora. Hace unos años que he adoptado el formato del quipu para realizar obras y sería muy extenso poder explicar ahora el móvil de esta postura. Pero hasta el momento el proceso de trabajo fue muy diferente, más libre y creativo. Esta obra fue creciendo espejando una realidad que aún cuesta aceptar, y que puede seguir desarrollándose. Cumplido el mes se hace un corte, aun no sé si puedo continuar anudando las angustias de tantos compatriotas. A todos ellos mis respetos. First of all because of what it implies. It would have been preferable to dump other happier data, such as births. But the sad occasion presented a challenge, an opportunity to move daily what was being reported to an object that would later be the result of acting almost mechanically under a plan, a loaned system, making a transfer from one communication system to another centered on an artistic interest. Operational aspects were presented to solve, from how to get a complex knot to the desired height, neither higher nor lower, or how to calculate the length of each rope so that material is not missing when performing the knots. In addition, there are issues that, by using industrially realized threads, make it impossible to include procedures and resources that the purely artisanal methods allow. As an example you can give the option of twisting the yarn to the right or to the left; the orientation is already determined in these threads. Nor was it always easy to interpret the data provided. There were changes in categorization, or lack of continuity from day to day. The first report is dated 5th and records the case detected on 3rd. The 6th is recorded the second. There is no report on the 7th and the 8th gives three new imported cases, totaling 12 cases. Comparing there are 7 undefined cases that could be determined with journalistic information. Also on the 29th and 30th days there are only totals, without discrimination. Only on the 22nd, a red thread is added, as it is the only time that a possible Community transmission is defined. The cases in study or epidemiological research, indicated in orange colour, are not changed until now. But so far the work process was very different, more free and creative. This work grew by looking at a reality that is still hard to accept, and that can continue to develop.
